Uttar Pradesh’s Special Task Force has uncovered a bizarre and elaborate scam involving a fake embassy operating out of a rented home in Kavi Nagar, Ghaziabad.
The accused, Harsh Vardhan Jain, 47, posed as a diplomat for non-existent micronations such as West Arctica, Seborga, Poulvia, and Lodonia.
Authorities seized forged passports, stamps from over 30 countries, fake diplomatic license plates, ₹45 lakh in cash, and luxury cars used to complete the illusion.
The latter also displayed doctored photos with world leaders to enhance credibility.According to police, the fake diplomatic setup was used to run a job scam, laundering money through shell companies, and misleading victims with promises of foreign placements and privileges. The operation mimicked a legitimate consulate, complete with fake documentation, seals, and flags.
The mastermind has prior run-ins with the law and connections to high-profile names.
He now faces charges of forgery, impersonation, and financial fraud under the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
