On June 4, 2025, a stampede outside Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium turned a celebratory event into a tragedy, as crowds gathered to mark Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s first IPL title win. A sudden surge toward the gates caused chaos, resulting in at least 11 deaths and over 50 injuries. The planned victory parade was canceled following the incident.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah confirmed the casualties and announced compensation, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed sorrow, calling the incident “heartrending.”
