Tottenham Hotspur ended their 17-year wait for a major trophy by defeating Manchester United 1–0 in the 2025 UEFA Europa League final at San Mamés in Bilbao on Wednesday 21 May.
Brennan Johnson scored the only goal of the match in the 42nd minute, taking advantage of a defensive error from United. The win marked Tottenham’s third Europa League title and their first European trophy since 1984. It also secured them a place in next season’s Champions League group stage.
Despite finishing 17th in the Premier League, manager Ange Postecoglou led the team to European glory, with captain Son Heung-min lifting the trophy in a historic moment for the club.
