An official Indian delegation led by Dr. Neena Malhotra, Secretary (South), Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), arrived in Mauritius on 13 July 2025 to take part in the 5th Executive Board Meeting of the World Hindi Secretariat.


During the visit, the Indian delegation held a series of high-level meetings aimed at strengthening cultural and educational ties between India and Mauritius, with a particular focus on promoting the Hindi language.
Dr. Malhotra and the delegation called on the Hon’ble Mahendra Gondeea, Minister of Arts & Cultural Heritage of Mauritius, for discussions centered on deepening cultural cooperation. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to preserving and promoting Hindi as a shared linguistic and cultural heritage.

In a separate meeting, the delegation met with Hon’ble Mahend Gungapersad, Minister of Education & Human Resources. Discussions focused on expanding collaboration in the field of education and enhancing support for Hindi language initiatives through the World Hindi Secretariat.


The meetings highlighted the shared commitment of India and Mauritius to further elevate their longstanding cultural and educational partnership, with Hindi playing a central role in fostering closer people-to-people connections.
