India has firmly rejected China’s latest attempt to rename several locations in Arunachal Pradesh, calling it an “unwarranted exercise” that does not alter the reality of the region being an integral part of India.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the government reiterated that “Arunachal Pradesh was, is, and will always be an inseparable part of India.” The response comes after China’s Ministry of Civil Affairs released a new list assigning Chinese names to places within the Indian state—a move widely seen as reinforcing Beijing’s territorial claims.
The territorial dispute over Arunachal Pradesh remains a persistent point of friction between the two countries. While India governs the state through democratic processes, China claims parts of it as “South Tibet.”
India has reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding its territorial integrity and urged China to avoid actions that undermine peace and stability in the border regions. While Pakistan silence on Arunachal renaming, may further align China and Pakistan in a geopolitical front against India, especially if tensions escalate.
