Gaza Strip – Starvation is killing people in Gaza as the humanitarian crisis reaches catastrophic levels. According to the Gaza Health Ministry, at least 101 people—over 80 of them children—have died from malnutrition.
UN agencies report that 500,000 people are facing famine-like conditions, with nearly 93% of Gaza’s 2.1 million people living in emergency food insecurity.
Since October 2023, Israel’s blockade and ongoing military operations have cut off food, water, and medical supplies. Aid groups report they have no supplies left, and even humanitarian workers are starving.
Children are the hardest hit: over 71 have already died of malnutrition, with tens of thousands at risk. Hospitals, overwhelmed and under-equipped, can’t treat the growing number of starving patients.
About 25 countries have issued a joint call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza as of July 2025. This group includes nations like Spain, France, the UK, Canada, Australia, and Japan.
Without urgent global action, thousands more may die—not from bombs, but from hunger.
