International News : Nepal Police Clash With Protesters Over Social Media Ban

Violent clashes broke out in Kathmandu as police fired tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse thousands of young protesters who tried to storm Nepal’s Parliament.

The protests, largely led by Gen Z activists, erupted in response to a controversial government ban on social media platforms like Facebook, YouTube, and X. Authorities claim the platforms failed to register locally and were being misused.

One person has reportedly died, and over 50 were injured as per local media, yet no official confirmation of the death & injured has been made by the authorities.

A curfew has been imposed in key areas, not just the Parliament building, but also extended into key government areas such as Singha Durbar, which houses the Prime Minister’s and President’s office.
