The head of the Spanish soccer federation, Luis Rubiales, has resigned from his position.
It comes after he kissed a player of Spain’s national team, Jenni Hermoso, without her consent after they won the Women’s World Cup last month.
Rubiales was serving a suspension imposed by FIFA while an investigation was being conducted.
Last week, Spanish prosecutors opened a sexual assault case after Hermoso filed a formal complaint against Rubiales.
