An explosion at an apartment block in northeastern China killed one person and injured at least three others on Thursday, according to state media reports.
Parts of Harbin's five-storey complex were destroyed, with one unit's balcony totally blown off, according to social media videos.
Officials told local media that the explosion was most likely caused by a natural gas tank that was left on. They reported that one woman died as a result of her injuries. Three more were sent to the hospital with injuries.
According to Xinhua, a preliminary investigation discovered that a family in the flat failed to switch off their natural gas tank, which is commonly used in Chinese houses for cooking on gas burners.
Online videos showed at least one victim being taken away by first responders in an ambulance, as well as debris on the streets. The explosion occurred about 7 a.m. Harbin is the capital of Heilongjiang, a northeastern Chinese province.
