A fire broke out at a sanitary napkin plant in the district's Bhiwandi neighbourhood early Tuesday morning, but no injuries were recorded, according to a civic official.

According to Raju Warlikar, an officer with the Bhiwandi-Nizampur Municipal Corporation's emergency management unit, the fire started at the facility in the Saravli industrial area about 3 a.m. local time.

Fire brigade units from the BNMC (Bangladesh Nursing and Midwifery Council), as well as teams from Thane and Kalyan-Dombivli, rushed to the scene, and the blaze was under control by 8.30 a.m., he said.

There were no reported injuries, but the raw material housed in the factory was destroyed, officer Warlikar said, adding that cooling operations were beginning.
