On Tuesday, a man with a sword attacked civilians and police officers in a north-east London district, killing a 13-year-old kid and injuring four others.
A 36-year-old guy was subdued with a taser and arrested on suspicion of murder in a residential area near Hainault subterranean station, according to police. According to police, the 13-year-old died at the hospital due to his injuries. Two police officers suffered injuries and were sent to hospital. Two additional people were injured.
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Ade Adelekan stated that police do not believe there is a threat to the larger community. "We are not looking for more suspects," he explained. "This incident does not appear to be terror-related." The Metropolitan Police Department said they were dispatched early Tuesday, to reports of a vehicle being driven into a house on a residential street and individuals being stabbed.
Witness videos published by UK media showed a man in a yellow hoodie walking near residences in the neighbourhood while wielding a long sword or knife. In one video, police officers yelled "drop the sword" and "lock your doors!" as they chased the guy, who was seen jumping over fences and into people's yards.
UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak described the event as "shocking," saying, "Such violence has no place on our streets." According to Buckingham Palace, King Charles sent his thoughts and prayers for the young victim's family and praised the heroism of rescue responders.
