The Paris Olympics organisers launched a display of the five Olympic rings put on the Eiffel Tower on Friday, as the French capital counts down the 50 days until the Summer Games begin.
The ring construction, made of recycled French steel, was shown on the south side of the 135-year-old Paris monument, which overlooks the Seine River. Each ring measures 9 metres (30 feet) in diameter.
Thousands of athletes will parade through the heart of the French city on boats on the Seine along a 6-kilometre path during the opening ceremony on July 26 at dusk.

The tower, known as La Dame de Fer (The Iron Lady), will play an important role in the Paris Games, which take place from July 26 to August 11, as well as the Paralympics that follow.}
Men's and women's volleyball players will compete at the base of the 330-metre (1,083-foot) Monument. They will be observed by over 13,000 people at the temporary Eiffel Tower Stadium on the nearby Champ de Mars, where Parisians and tourists enjoy picnicking on the grass and watching July 14 fireworks.
The Olympic and Paralympic medals in Paris are being embedded with fragments of a hexagonal chunk of iron from the tower.
The very iconic landmark in central Paris has seen a surge in visitor numbers as the Games approach in 2024.
Two massive cranes were used to lift and mount the 30-ton structure between the tower's first and second stories.
The Olympic rings will be illuminated every night with 100,000 LED bulbs throughout the Paralympic Games, which begin August 28, 17 days after the Olympics' closing ceremony.
The Paralympics will include 4,400 athletes representing 180 countries across 549 events and 22 sports. Many sporting events will take place near iconic monuments like the Eiffel Tower, Versailles, and the Grand Palais.
