Slovakia officials have declared a state of emergency after a bear went on a rampage killing one person and injuring five others.
The state of emergency comes following the death of a 31-year-old Belarusian woman who was being chased by a bear in Slovakia’s Low Tatras mountain range.
The latest bear attack occurred on Sunday in the north of the country, in Liptovsky Mikulas, leaving a woman in her late forties with a shoulder injury and a 72-year-old man with a cut on his head.
According to local reports, the spate of attacks also bore a 10-year-old girl and two other adults with scratches and bruises.
Patrols are scanning the town and officers are using camera traps and a night vision drone to track the bear, town officials said in a statement on Facebook.
Patrols have been instructed to kill the bear if they see it.
