On Monday, a fire broke out at the Oceana amusement park in Gothenburg, western Sweden, engulfing outdoor water slides and other structures, according to authorities.

The water park, scheduled to open later this year, was part of an extension of Liseberg Amusement Park.

Twelve people were taken to the hospital for minor injuries, and police say one person is still missing. The cause of the fire is unknown.

Authorities evacuated a hotel and offices near the Park and advised residents to stay indoors due to the smoke that could be seen towering above the city.

"The fire started at one of the water rides outside the building and then spread to the entire building," according to the park's statement.

Live video shows slides engulfed in flames, with multiple firefighting cars surrounding the area.

Liseberg, in downtown Goteborg, opened in 1923 and is a major tourist destination, with over 3 million tourists each year.
