Last Friday, March 15, the Meriden Fire Department successfully put out a fire coming from a Connecticut house. However, they had one more mission left!
One of the firefighters found a terrified cat covered in soot and drenched in water sitting on an upstairs balcony.
Without wasting time, a firefighter used a ladder to save the kitty.
Sometimes cats are stuck in trees because they don't know how to get down, while other times they are simply afraid to return to the ground.
Cats have a built-in balancing system known as the "righting reflex" that helps them to orient themselves and land on their feet.
While cats can often land the right way up, they do not always land on their feet. The height of the fall can influence their capacity to land safely.
