A speeding passenger bus drove off a hilly roadway and into a ravine in southwest Pakistan early Wednesday, killing at least 20 people, police and government officials said.
According to local police official Asghar Ali, the accident occurred near Washuk town while the bus was travelling from Turbat, the second largest city in Balochistan province, to Quetta, the provincial capital.
Local media images showed the wreckage at the bottom of a rocky valley.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed his grief over the accident.
Road accidents are widespread in Pakistan, when traffic laws and safety requirements are not strictly maintained, especially on battered roads in particularly difficult places.
A similar catastrophe occurred earlier this month, killing at least 20 people and injuring another 30.
